Building Information Modeling (Bim) By Using Revit Structure

Structural engineers will find several opportunities to utilize Revit Structure to collaborate with architects using the intelligent building objects (in DWG format)from AutoCAD Architecture.
There is one important part of structural engineer’s profession to share design data and information with the rest of design team jointly with the architect. For this Revit Structure provides a wide range of collaboration modes like:
1 Exporting/Importing standard CAD files (such as DWG, DGN, DXF)
2 Linking of files to/from AutoCAD Architecture
3 Linking completely to an existing Revit Architecture building model
In the structural engineering the most noticeable point for any structural engineer is 2D CAD files provided by the architect. Any CAD software that supports DWG, DGN, DXF formats can work efficiently with Revit Structure.
Revit structure allows engineer to link and import DWG, DGN, DXF files directly into Revit Structure. If the 2D CAD file is linked while being imported, it stays within Revit Structure as a set and can be refreshed if the architect provides an updated version.
Revit Structure has the capability to export the same 2D CAD formats - not only because this is the format often needed to pass on to the rest of the design team. Revit structure can provide DWG deliverables just as AutoCAD software can, creating layered and well-organized DWG files using any industry standard the engineer wants.
AutoCAD Architecture and Revit Structure have remarkably solid integration, allowing extra benefits to architectural and structural firms using this system simultaneously. Generally the structural engineer will begin the design process using the 2D CAD files and if required can also import the AutoCAD architectural model straight into Revit Structure, using the architect's model for design reference. And for better management with architects and rest of the team, Revit Structure exports structural members as intelligent building objects resident to AutoCAD Architecture. So a full structural model can be shared directly with the architect using AutoCAD Architecture - allowing the architect to examine structural design inside the architectural model and test for possible clash with architectural components directly inside AutoCAD Architecture.
By using building information model (BIM), it provides structural companies a complete modeling environment for evaluation and documentation - so that structural design and documentation are always coordinated, uniform and all-inclusive. Sharing the structural details of building information model with architects further coordinates the building design and documentation - a wining combination for all stake-holders participating in the building design and construction process.

BIM Services - Building Information Modeling and Its Advantages

Building Information Modeling entails the construction of a building on the computer before building it in the physical world. This virtual model is built in three dimensions and can be moved and rotated as if it were a real object.

Building information modeling services - reduced as BIM services are extremely important for creating accurate and faultless building structures. BIM - services are better to use, because they give precise information about geometrical data of building, internal relationships - dependencies of building components, building's geographical information etc.

Building information modeling is the creation and use of coordinated information for design, production of high quality construction documents, predicting performance, cost estimation and construction planning. BIM is a model based technology linked with a database of project information to enable flawless communication between all stakeholders associated with the construction process.

BIM is a building design methodology characterized by the creation and use of coordinated, internally consistent computable information about a building project in design and construction. BIM makes a reliable digital representation of the building available for design decision making, high-quality construction document production, construction planning, performance predictions and cost estimates.

Advantages of BIM Services:

• High quality and accurate documentation of construction process
• Production of high quality accurate construction documents
• Co-Ordinate different services to avoid conflicts
• Remove clutter on the site by accurate quality take-offs
• Improving Quality of construction by enabling pre-fabrication
• Minimize building lifecycle to increase interaction between architects, engineers and contractors
• Construction management
• Improved construction management

The structure's virtual model can be used for collaboration with architects, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, civil engineers and other stake holders. This same 3D digital model can be integrated with design, analysis and construction documentation and is utilized as the basis for digital design-to-fabrication planning and construction. Using Building Information Modeling structural engineers can track material quantities and investigate various design options that eventually result in a more sustainable design.

Google Internet Summit 2009: Information is Power

Google Internet Summit 2009: The State of the Internet May 6, 2009 Google Internet Summit 2009: Information is Power, So What Happens When the Internet Democratizes Access to Information? Andrew McLaughlin tells what happens when different countries and cultures realize the power of the Internet. On May 5 and 6, 2009, in Mountain View, we brought together Googlers and leaders from academia and the corporate world for a 2-day summit to discuss the state of the global Internet. The goal of the summit was to collect a wide range of knowledge to inform Google's future plans--from product development and market reach to users' expectations and our ability to keep the Internet open yet secure. More than 30 speakers and moderators led discussions around 8 topics: Networks; Wireless and Sensor Technologies; Security; Standards; Applications; Democracy, Law, Policy and Regulation; Search and Cloud Computing; and The Future. Eric Schmidt, who offered some remarks, expressed optimism that the challenges we face with governments' walling off access to the Internet can be overcome technologically by building networks that are transparent, scalable, and open.
