Terminal Tower & Cleveland, OH (1989)
On my travels to the Northern region of the US, I stopped by to see my friend Ray (also known as Videohollic2008a on YouTube). He took me on a quick tour of his hometown, Cleveland, Ohio. Traveling on I-90, we pass Lake Erie and the Cleveland Stadium. We see the future site of the Society Center (completed in 1992). Also, we visit the Soldiers & Sailors Monument in the Public Square. This 125' tall structure is Cleveland's memorial to the Civil War and was dedicated on July 4, 1894. We also see the BP Building, across the street. Of main interest is the Terminal Tower, also in the Public Square. This 708' structure was completed in 1928 - two years before the train terminal itself. It would remain the world's tallest structure (outside of New York) until 1967. The view from the top is now very rare as the observation area has been closed to the public since the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. We finish the tour of the city by driving on a section of Interstate 90 known as "Dead Man's Curve". Taped: August 27, 1989
